This biscuit recipe is foolproof. And delicious. I think it came from a Bob’s Red Mill flour package. Anyway, it’s good and easy to make.

2 cups flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp salt
6 tbsps. butter
1 cup milk

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter until the dough is crumbly. Slowly add milk until dough just comes together. Dough will wet and sticky.

Turn onto a floured surface and knead 15 times (yep, it even tells you how many times to knead the dough). Roll dough out with floured rolling pin, or, as I did, use your hands to pat it out to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out between six and nine biscuits depending on the size of your biscuit cutter.

Bake from 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown,

Sausage Gravy
Brown 1 pound of sausage (your choice)
Remove sausage from pan
If you need additional fat, add about 2 tablespoons of butter
About 4 tablespoons of flour, constantly stir until flour just begins to brown
Slowly stir in 2 cups of milk, continue stirring until gravy slowly boils and thickens remove from heat. Add salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy over your just baked biscuits.
